About FiCF-USA

Our Goal

Restoring the equal honor and glory for women and men to live out an abundant life in Christ.

Our Vision

The three founders and the book they co-authored: A Passion for Fullness: Examining the Woman’s Identity and Roles from Biblical, Historical, and Sociological Perspective have established the foundation of our vision.

In Creation

In Creation

Man and woman were equal in identity and in mission: “So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth’” (Gen 1:27-28). In other words, as image bearers of God, man and woman share the same royal status and intrinsic value as human beings, and they are both commissioned the same basic calling to be stewards of all the resources in the world entrusted to their care.

In the Fall

In the Fall

The equality of man and woman in identity and in mission were ruined when humankind sinned against God, and the battle of the sexes began, as evident in God’s announcement to the woman, “Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you” (Gen 3:16b). With the husband ruling over his wife extended to man ruling over woman due to sin, patriarchal culture was developed, as evident in Scriptures even among God’s people, and persisted in the world through the ages and across cultures even to this day! As a result, the woman’s identity and mission are depreciated, i.e. robbed of her royal status and value as human being, and of her leadership as equal partner with man in stewardship over all resources in the world.

In Redemption

In Redemption

By the victory of Christ over death in resurrection, the equality of man and woman in identity and in mission upon creation is restored, as affirmed by the New Testament text: “There is no longer…male and female; for you are one in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:28). Man and woman’s equality in mission is further testified by Christ’s command for His male and female disciples to be His ambassadors: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8), and by the gifts of the Holy Spirit to man and woman for His kingdom ministry: “The gifts He gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ (Eph 4:7, 11-12). As evident also from the other two major passages on spiritual gifts (Rom 12:6-8; 1 Cor 12:7-11, 28), no gifts are given based on gender, but are allotted “to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses” (1 Cor 12:11).

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the whole Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God and the final authority for all Christian faith and life.

  • We believe the Triune God is the only true God, the Creator and Ruler of heaven and earth. Jesus Christ the Son, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, died on the cross as an atonement for our sins and rose again on the third day. He ascended into heaven and will return to establish a new Heaven and Earth. God the Father prepared the Salvation, the Son accomplished it and the Holy Spirit executes it.
  • We believe that human beings, both male and female, are created in the image of God, but in Adam we are all sinners in need of God’s salvation. Only by faith in Christ can we be justified and receive eternal life.
  • We believe the church is the body of Christ. Christ is the head of the church. In Christ all people regardless of race, class, or gender receive the same spiritual inheritance and the same calling to faithfully use their gifts and resources to build up God’s Kingdom.
