Thanksgiving at the Pleroma Home for Girls:
End of last month, there was a court case of two sisters who were sexually assaulted. The court sentenced the two perpetrators to prison terms of four and a half years and seven years respectively. There were two other cases in which sexual predators were successfully prosecuted. Besides justice being demonstrated, we are also happy to witness the progress of Cambodian society with an increasing emphasis on justice and concern for the oppressed.
Prayer items:
- We pray to the Lord to protect everyone’s health and safety, especially during the rainy season.
- Pray for the learning, physical and spiritual growth of those we serve, and hope that they can stay away from temptation and become people with healthy character and spiritual life.
- Pray for local co-workers and missionary co-workers, asking our Lord to continue to lead our service and give us unity, spiritual wisdom and healthy hearts & minds.
Pleroma Schools for Girls:
- This school year will end at the end of August. May our Lord give us wisdom to prepare for the new school year in October.
- Pray for the school’s sponsorship program, and ask the Lord to give us the wisdom to support the families in real need, so that children can have a chance to study; and that families with means will not abuse our love.
Pleroma Home for Girls & Pleroma Home for Women:
- Please pray for our ongoing court cases.
- Pray for the recovery of those we serve, whether they are at our home or have returned to their community. Their injuries are often not just sexual assault, but also accompanied by many problems and trauma. There was a new case in the Home for Women recently that three sisters were sexually abused by their biological father for many years. Home for Girls will have two new cases in July.
- Pray for Home for Women’s community prevention education program. We hope to go to more villages to share, and that village chiefs and officials are willing to let us in.
- We are grateful that with the support of a church in the United States, the house building program for poor families can be continued. We are building a house for our second family. Please ask the Lord to protect the entire construction process.
Pleroma Community Center:
-
- Pray for a 6-year-old boy who was hit by a motorcycle. He suffered injuries to his head, eyes and feet. We ask our Lord to heal and provide for his family.
- A singing competition will be held for community children in July, hoping that their potential will be discovered.
