Prayer Letter from Debbie Choy – Cambodia Ministry Field Director , Dec 2021

Dear Supporters,

DebbieSince I returned from the United States 3 months ago, all of the work has been moving forward in full speed. However, the situation seems a bit “out of control.”  I have been performing the duties of a principal and administrator in two schools in addition to managing the new high school building project which was delayed. There are unending tasks to manage daily, such as coping with the government’s continuous changes in the anti-pandemic policies, and teachers in school infected with COVID-19 and needing to be quarantined. Since I have to deal with so many changes daily, my mood also changes accordingly. It is unclear what the government’s new policies would be tomorrow. Yet I need to be alert on how to cope with the changes and accept the challenge readily.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…  For His power is made perfect in weakness.” There are so many unpredictable events during the serving in Cambodia. No matter how well you plan, there are always new events to disrupt your planning. Especially during the pandemic, there are changes daily. The best coping strategy is to let go, be flexible, and to believe that God will give the best and the most suitable for us to experience with gratitude.

The Lord is enthroned as King

Students were waiting for the covid test.

One month ago, a teacher and a school administrative worker were both infected with Delta. The whole school thus had to close down for 14 days. The work of student admission, school administration, and recruiting of new teachers all had to be postponed. In this process, we experienced God’s provision and faithfulness. For example, there was no COVID outbreak in school. The students’ parents had confidence in our school and the new enrollment met the ideal number.

Lately my physical strength changes too and I am not able to multi tasks like before, plus, I wake up incredibly early in the morning and feel tired after lunch. However, I cheer up when I see the students coming to school. This year, the student enrollment meets the target fully. Another upcoming change is the collaborative project with a local church through utilizing the new school facility for parents & students’ meetings, weekend outreach activities and worship. Pray that God grants me confidence to serve Him faithfully according to my strength.

Prayer requests

  1. I have already received the two shots of BioNTech vaccines for 6 months. Pray that God will provide the opportunity for me to receive the booster shot.
  2. Pray for the progress of the high school building project. Pray that the construction company will complete the work efficiently so that the students can use the new facility soon.
  3. Pray for the operation budget. Pray that we will have enough resources to assist the needy students and service recipients.
  4. Pray that I will experience God’s presence even in the midst of busyness, and to have a healthy body, mind, and spirit.

I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place. — Isiah 28:17
