Introduction:

This class will provide an overview of biblical women in relation to God and His work, from Genesis to Revelation. Students will also be introduced to Christian women and their ministries in God’s Kingdom from New Testament time to the present. Related controversial biblical passages will also be explored. In light of these biblical and historical backgrounds, the class will then consider the four different theological views about women in ministry. Practical case studies and applications will be included at the end of the course.

Esther LiuDr. Esther Liu has been a teacher, pastor, mentor, and counselor for the past 20 plus years. Having grown up in Taiwan and trained in the US (Fuller Theological Seminary), she has immersed herself in learning and serving two cultures. Speaking from her personal and pastoral experience, she has helped men and women in their walk of faith. Esther is now teaching Practical Theology at Christian colleges. Grace May, M.Div., Th.D                                                        

Grace MayRev. Dr. Grace May is the President of Women of Wonder, Inc. (WOW!), a ministry that seeks to empower women to fulfill their God-given dreams. She received her M.Div from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Th.D at the Boston University School of Theology.  In 1999 she was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She has pastored at the Chinese Christian Church of New England, the First Chinese Presbyterian Church in NYC and the Oversea Chinese Mission.  She has taught at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, New York Theological Seminary, City Seminary of New York and St. Paul’s University in Kenya.  She is also a contributing author to The Global God, Proclaiming the Scandal of the Cross, Growing Healthy Asian-American Churches and Seeking Harmony: Intergenerational Theology of the Household of God.

 

Dora Wang, MRE, MAR, D.Min    Language: English, Mandarin or Cantonese

Dora WongDr. Dora Wang, one of the three authors of A Passion for Fullness: Exploring the Identity and Role of Women from Biblical, Historical and Sociological Perspectives, is responsible for writing the biblical perspective. She has served in pastoral ministries in Chinese churches and seminaries for over 30 years. Dora has received her Master degrees in Religious Education from Southwestern Theological Seminary and in Biblical Studies from Westminster Theological Seminary, California, and her D Min. from Claremont School of Theology. Dora is currently serving as Pastor of Christian Formation at the Chinese Bible Church of San Diego in California.
